An Illinois Wesleyan University physics professor says the Trump administration's effort to choke off the supply of international students at U.S. universities is unwise. The administration is taking a hard line on visa approvals for international students,

Illinois Wesleyan University physics professor Dr. Gabriel C. Spalding has criticized the U.S. federal government's decision to reject student visas and scholarships for STEM fields, calling it "unwise" and detrimental to the nation's scientific advancement. In an interview with WGLT, Spalding emphasized the importance of international collaboration in science and technology, noting that such rejections could hinder the U.S.'s ability to compete globally. He highlighted the contributions of international students to research and innovation at American universities, arguing that limiting their access to education and opportunities in the U.S. would ultimately harm the country's economic and technological progress.
