The Indian Department of Space has been allocated a budget of Rs 13,400 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, marking an increase from the previous year's Rs 11,700 crore. This budget includes an additional Rs 1,000 crore for NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), aimed at enhancing its commercial space activities. The increased funding is part of India's broader strategy to bolster its space sector, which has seen significant achievements like the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar south pole. The budget also reflects the government's commitment to fostering private sector participation in space exploration and technology development, aligning with the vision to make India a leading player in the global space economy.
