India's Road Map For Space Developments Set Till 2047: New ISRO Chief V Narayanan
- The new ISRO chief V Narayanan said India will fly humans to space by 2026 as part of the Gaganyaan mission. Gaganyaan envisages launching a crew of three members to an orbit of 400 kilometres for a three-days-long mission and bring them back safely to earth, by landing in Indian sea waters.
India has outlined an ambitious space exploration roadmap extending to 2047, as announced by the new ISRO chief, V. Narayanan. This roadmap includes plans for a space station by 2035, a manned mission to the Moon by 2040, and the establishment of a lunar base by 2047. Additionally, ISRO aims to enhance its capabilities in satellite technology, focusing on areas like navigation, communication, and earth observation. The strategy also involves fostering international collaborations, promoting private sector participation, and advancing research in space sciences, all aimed at positioning India as a leading player in global space exploration.
