Southeast Polk High School science teacher Allison McPherroen has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the school district announced on Thursday. The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching was established in 1983 and is the highest award K-12 math and science teachers can receive from the government.
A Southeast Polk High School teacher, Dr. Jennifer S. Bormann, has been honored with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). This prestigious award, which is the highest recognition for K-12 science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science teachers in the United States, acknowledges her outstanding contributions to education. Dr. Bormann, who teaches science, was recognized for her innovative teaching methods and her ability to inspire students in STEM fields. The award includes a $10,000 prize from the National Science Foundation, a trip to Washington, D.C. for recognition events, and the opportunity to influence national STEM education policy. Her achievement not only highlights her personal dedication but also brings national attention to the quality of education at Southeast Polk High School.
