Social Network MeetMe® YouTube Channel Surpasses 1 Million Views in First Three Months

"MeetMe at the Bar" Hits 540,000 Views; User-Generated Video Contest Drives Activity

NEW HOPE, PA--(Marketwire - Jun 27, 2012) - MeetMe, Inc. (NYSE MKT: [ MEET ]) (NYSE Amex: [ MEET ]), the public market leader for social discovery, today announced that its newly created YouTube channel, MeetMeVideos, has surpassed one million views. The channel, located at [ www.youtube.com/meetmevideos ], was launched on April 4 to support the platform's first user-generated MeetMe Video Contest.

The MeetMe user-generated video contest asked members to submit a video in one of six categories: "Meet Me," "Best Meeting," "Worst Meeting," "Who Do You Want?," "Dying to Meet," and "Funniest Pick-up Lines." The MeetMeVideos channel includes finalists' entries and compilations of members' best submissions.

In early June, to coincide with the company's official rebranding to MeetMe, the company released "[ MeetMe at the Bar ]," an employee-cast video that emphasizes the network as "a place to hang out and socialize" versus others in the social discovery space. The video addresses the question: "If social sites went to the bar, just how social would they be?" To date, the video, available at [ http://meet.me/bar ], has received more than 500,000 views and is supported by MeetMe's Social Theater program across the web.

In addition to "MeetMe at the Bar," and timed to coincide with the rebranding initiative, MeetMe asked members what the site means to them. The subsequent compilation, entitled "What Does MeetMe Mean to You?" and available at [ http://meet.me/video ], has garnered more than 140,000 views and member quotables including:

  • "more than just a URL, it's like another place to go to hang out with people"
  • "lets me express how I feel..."
  • "I can really show the person that I am"
  • "you can go and just talk, and no one's going to judge you"
  • "you don't already have to know somebody to get to know somebody"
  • "it means friendship, helping others, just that togetherness feeling"

"We are pleased by how well received the MeetMe videos have been," said Catherine Cook, VP Brand Strategy at MeetMe, Inc. "The feedback we've received from the array of videos in the channel indicate that indeed our members define us as the best place to meet new people."
