FAA Allows Airline Operators to Use Cubic Global Tracking Solutions Devices On-Board Aircraft

Cubic Devices Acceptable for Airline Operator Use In-Flight

VIENNA, VA--(Marketwire - Nov 21, 2011) - [ Cubic Global Tracking Solutions, ] the asset tracking and monitoring division of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: [ CUB ]), announced that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted the use of Cubic's tracking and asset management devices by airline operators based on the company's comprehensive documentation and testing.

The specific devices the FAA has reviewed report and test data for and will allow on board an aircraft include the Cubic Global Tracking Solutions [ Global Sentinel ] GS-5L and GS-5B, and the RSU-3 device, which is commercially known as a [ Mesh Asset Tag ] (MAT). By having the FAA review these devices, airline operators may now use the Cubic Global Tracking devices during air flights.

"Devices that help ensure efficient and secure movement of cargo in both passenger and cargo aircraft operations are critical to global commerce, airline carriers and public safety," said Mary Ann Wagner, president of Cubic Global Tracking Solutions. "Our technology can now be applied for interoperability across all transportation modes, encompassing land, sea and air, for end-to-end real-time asset visibility and intrusion detection."

According to the letter received from Timothy W. Shaver, Manager, Avionics Maintenance Branch, AFS-360 FAA, "Considering the Cubic GS-5L, GS-5B and RSU-3 operational characteristics (the unit's ability to prevent transmission of data), the results of the DO-160 section 21 categories H radiated emissions testing, and that Cubic has stringent production and design controls in place for the devices, it is the position of AFS-360 that airline operators may allow the use of Cubic GS-5L, GS-5B and RSU-3 devices throughout flight without further electromagnetic compatibility testing on the aircraft provided that their use is limited to the cargo and passenger compartments."
