KELOWNA, BC, July 21, 2011 /CNW/ - (TSX-V: QHR) QHR Technologies Inc. ("QHR" or the "Company"), a leader in the Canadian Healthcare Information Technology sector, reports that its EMR division Optimed Software Corporation ("Optimed") has signed an agreement with TELUS Health Solutions to connect their flagship EMR solution, Accuro®EMR, to TELUS health space, targeting two million Canadians in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Accuro®EMR integrated with TELUS health space, powered by Microsoft HealthVault, will allow patients and authorized healthcare providers to access and share health information online from any location, at any time, over any device.  TELUS health space is Canada's first ehealth consumer platform allowing Canadians to manage their health information.  Along with accessing personal health information, consumers have a number of other online tools including disease management, pediatric care, and health and wellbeing.

"Joining Optimed's Accuro EMR to our TELUS health space ecosystem strengthens our presence in two more provinces thereby allowing us to continue our commitment to providing personal health record solutions to all Canadians," said Paul Lepage, senior vice president, TELUS Health Solutions. "Our goal at TELUS is to shift the focus from remediation to prevention and wellness. By eliminating barriers to accessing and sharing information using integrated technology solutions, we are helping to facilitate better collaboration between patients/consumers and their physicians."

"At Optimed, we have chosen partners who can help us to offer the best possible solutions and service," said Al Hildebrandt, president of Optimed Software Corporation. "Along with providing patients the tools to master their own health, TELUS health space allows physicians to share with patients a consolidated view of their overall condition. Optimed has over 4,000 physician clients in Canada and with this partnership will be able to provide the next generation consumer driven tools to our physicians and their patients."

Consumer pilots will initially target Saskatchewan and Manitoba where Optimed has over 1,800 physician clients.  Optimed's Accuro EMR is the most widely used EMR in both provinces, where provincial certifications and funding programs assist the physicians adopting EMR solutions.
