BEDFORD, Mass.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Spire Corporation ] (Nasdaq: SPIR), a global solar company providing capital equipment and turnkey manufacturing lines to manufacture photovoltaic (PV) modules and cells, today announced that its Chairman and CEO, [ Roger G. Little ], will participate in his thirteenth Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on Saturday October9,2010.

This Championship is considered to be one of the worlda™s most grueling Triathlon events. It consists of a 2.4-mile open ocean swim immediately followed by a 112-mile bike race and finishes with a 26.2-mile marathon. The event, held on the big island of Hawaii, is known for its heat, humidity and strong trade winds which are known to blow constantly while biking through the challenging lava-covered terrain.

Mr. Little qualified for this challenge in June, 2010 at the Ironman Eagleman 70.3 in Columbia, Maryland. In early September, Mr. Little competed in the ITU World Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
