ST-LAMBERT, QC, Sept. 30 /CNW/ - Roctest Ltd ("Roctest") (TSX: RTT), a leading designer and manufacturer of high-precision sensors, today announced the launch of AcTiMon-X1, a new breed of sensors that is designed to make collecting and analyzing structural information easier than ever before.

The AcTiMon-X1 is a versatile, cost-effective, all-in-one sensor that combines a three-axis accelerometer, a two-axis inclinometer, a temperature sensor and the related signal conditioning and data acquisition electronics into a single small sensing module. The AcTiMon-X1 is a complete monitoring solution that connects to a computer or a network using standard Ethernet or USB connections. This connection scheme enables the low cost integration of sensors into an existing or new network. When adding sensors to a building, the AcTiMon-X1 can be plugged into an existing Ethernet network and completely bypass the need to run additional cables. For structures that don't have networks, Ethernet cables provide a reliable, low-cost, one-cable solution for connecting and deploying AcTiMon-X1 and combining them with other Roctest instruments that use the same network connection. The AcTiMon-X1 is able to measure accelerations at frequencies of up to 200Hz and tilt at 10Hz.

"According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, of the 600,905 bridges across the U.S.A., 72,868 (12.1%) were categorized as structurally deficient and 89,024 (14.8%) were categorized as functionally obsolete. The AcTiMon-X1, combined with other unique and innovative monitoring products from Roctest, offers a turnkey alternative for infrastructure owners to safely increase the useful lifetime of ageing and critical infrastructures," said François Cordeau, President and CEO, Roctest. "With infrastructure owners facing continued budget constraint, we are happy to be able to offer a solution that truly delivers value and a quick return on investment."

The AcTiMon-X1 ships with a complete suite of software elements that tailor the AcTiMon-X1 to the user-specific monitoring need. For users who need a quick and easy solution to acquire data, AcTiMon-X1s come with a point-and-click Windows program that captures and graphs responses. It also integrates seamlessly with Roctest's [ SHMLive ] monitoring service.
