CHANHASSEN, Minn.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Datalink ] (Nasdaq: DTLK), a leading provider of data center infrastructure and services, today announced it was awarded an $8 million project with a Midwestern global IT consulting and software company. Datalink will optimize this clienta™s disaster recovery (DR) capabilities via disk-based, site-to-site replication technologies. In addition, Datalink will consolidate and virtualize this clienta™s data center storage infrastructure, making it more agile and easier to manage. In addition to hardware and software, this award includes Datalink professional services and customer support.

This customer needed a more robust DR solution with better overall performance across its block and file-based environments. Important file services-related criteria included the ability to recover files of unlimited sizes and turn replication operations on and off by job. After vetting the technologies of multiple manufacturers, Datalink recommended Hitachi Data Systemsa™ (HDS) disk-based, site-to-site replication and storage solutions. Deployed in multiple data centers, these solutions will ensure ongoing availability of revenue-producing applications and provide nearly instant recovery of data.

Datalink also recommended that the customer consolidate and virtualize its existing block-based data storage environment, as well as consolidate its file services infrastructures. By doing this, it will eliminate the need for hundreds of file servers, along with related management cycles and maintenance costs. In addition, the virtual, shared storage environment will streamline the ability to deliver additional storage capacity on demand. For long term archival, Datalink will deploy a Quantum tape-based infrastructure and leverage the customera™s existing backup software investment.

aWe are pleased to be awarded this project and to be working with an industry leader, said Datalink President and CEO, Paul Lidsky. aThis is a testament to the caliber of our people and our commitment to helping customers maximize every dollar they invest in IT. The Datalink foundation is based on our expertise, best practices, consultative approach and strategic partnerships with the best available technologies. This foundation allows us to design, deliver and support solutions that meet and exceed our customera™s business objectives.a
