Spire Receives DOE Grant to Develop LED Based Solar Simulator
BEDFORD, Mass.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Spire Corporation ] (Nasdaq: SPIR), an American global solar company providing capital equipment and turnkey manufacturing lines to produce photovoltaic (PV) modules worldwide, today announced it has been selected by the Department of Energy (DOE) as the recipient of a Small Business Innovation Research grant to develop a light emitting diode (LED) based solar simulator.

Spire is a major producer of solar simulators using pulsed light lamp light sources; this project will develop a next generation solar simulator, based on LED technology. An LED based system could provide advantages of accuracy, reliability, versatility and cost. Spectral, intensity and spatial uniformity variations could be achieved easily with system software and control electronics.
