Mon, January 26, 2009 Rubicon Technology Announces Large Diameter Windows at Photonics West
FRANKLIN PARK, Ill.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Rubicon Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:RBCN), a leading provider of sapphire substrates and products to the LED, RFIC, Semiconductor, and Optical industries, today announced that the company will display sapphire substrates and optical products including Rubicon's 8" (200mm+) optical windows and for the first time its 85kg, 300mm+ diameter sapphire bulk crystal at SPIE Photonics West in San Jose, CA on January 27-29, 2009. Rubicon will be showing these products in booth #718.

Using its proprietary manufacturing process, Rubicon supplies high-quality, high-performance optical products in dimensions up to 250mm c-plane, a and r-plane windows for optical applications in the military, sensor, semiconductor equipment, laser and medical industries. Specific applications in the optical market include, for military applications, missile domes, windows for unmanned air vehicles, and targeting windows. Additional optical applications include semiconductor equipment parts, sensor windows for fire safety, oil exploration and chemical processing as well as aerospace windows. Smaller sapphire windows and optics can also be used for spectroscopy, spectrophotometry, medical and industrial laser applications.
