The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has approved a grant of Rs 20 crore to support the manufacturing of India's first indigenous thrombectomy device by the company, Innvolution Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. This device, named Neuro Thrombektomy Device (NTD), is designed to remove blood clots from the brain, offering a cost-effective solution compared to imported devices. The project aims to reduce the dependency on foreign medical devices, promote self-reliance in healthcare, and make advanced medical technology more accessible and affordable within India. The initiative aligns with the 'Make in India' campaign and is expected to create job opportunities while enhancing the quality of stroke treatment in the country.
