Barrie students earn spot in Canada-Wide Science Fair

  Six projects from local schools, including Bear Creek and Cundles Heights, chosen to advance following Simcoe County Regional Science and Technology Fair

Two students from Barrie, Ontario, have qualified for the Canada-Wide Science Fair after winning gold medals at the regional level. Grade 7 student Aaryan Parekh from Bear Creek Secondary School developed a project titled "Exploring the Efficacy of Natural vs. Chemical Water Purification Methods," which investigates the effectiveness of different water purification techniques. Meanwhile, Grade 8 student Aarav Jain from the same school created a project called "The Effect of Different Types of Music on Plant Growth," examining how various music genres influence plant development. Both students will represent Barrie at the national competition in Edmonton from May 14-19, 2023, showcasing their innovative research and competing against other young scientists from across Canada.
