  • Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology announced Tuesday it has invented a real-time lecture translation system and multi-language subtitle program for lecture videos to assist international students.

The Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology (Daejeon University) has introduced a pioneering real-time lecture translation system aimed at enhancing educational accessibility for international students. This system, developed in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), translates lectures from Korean to English in real time, allowing non-Korean speaking students to follow along without language barriers. The technology not only translates spoken words but also includes subtitles, ensuring that students can both hear and read the translated content. This initiative is part of a broader effort to internationalize Korean higher education, making it more inclusive and competitive on a global scale. The system was first implemented in a pilot program, with plans for wider adoption across various departments, showcasing Korea's commitment to leveraging technology for educational equity.
