  • NASA's two stuck astronauts are just a few weeks away from finally returning to Earth after nine months in space. Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have to wait until their replacements arrive at the International Space Station next week before they can check out later this month.

NASA astronauts Frank Rubio and Stephen Bowen, along with UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, are preparing to return to Earth after spending nearly nine months aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Their extended mission was due to a series of delays and technical issues, including a coolant leak in their original Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft, which necessitated the launch of a replacement, Soyuz MS-23. This incident not only extended their stay but also set a new record for the longest single spaceflight by an American astronaut for Rubio. The trio has been involved in numerous scientific experiments, maintenance tasks, and spacewalks during their time in space. Their return is now scheduled for September 27, 2023, aboard the Soyuz MS-23, marking the end of an unexpectedly prolonged mission.
