China is set to release a policy aimed at promoting the use of RISC-V chip technology across the nation, according to sources cited by Reuters on March 4, 2025. This move is part of a broader strategy to reduce reliance on foreign technology, particularly in light of U.S. export controls on advanced chip technology. RISC-V, an open-source instruction set architecture, offers an alternative to proprietary technologies like those from Arm and Intel, allowing for greater customization and potentially lower costs.
