Virginia Tech Alexandria campus opening
- The facility, which is located at 3625 Potomac Ave. in Alexandria, will open its doors for the first day of classes on Jan. 21. Virginia Tech said it will host an opening celebration with a ribbon-cutting event on Feb. 28, beginning at 10 a.m.
The Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in Alexandria is set to open its first academic building in the fall of 2024, marking a significant expansion for the university. This new campus, located in the Potomac Yard area, aims to foster innovation and technology through its programs in computer science, engineering, and other tech-related fields. The campus will initially host around 750 students, with plans to increase to 1,000 by 2025, and eventually accommodate 750 graduate students. The development includes not only academic facilities but also aims to contribute to the economic growth of the region by attracting tech companies and startups. The project has received substantial support from both state and local governments, highlighting its importance to Virginia's tech ecosystem.
