CyberDefender Appoints Symantec Veteran as Senior Vice President, Product Development

LOS ANGELES--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--CyberDefender Corporation (OTCBB: [ CYDE ]), an award-winning provider of PC security, Antispyware/[ Antivirus Software ], PC Optimization, PC Support, and Identity Theft Prevention solutions, today announced it has expanded its management team with the hire of Sarah B. Hicks, as senior vice president of product development.

In her role, Ms. Hicks will be responsible for establishing CyberDefendera™s product strategy and roadmap, including new product development, enhancements to current products and international expansion. Leveraging her experience, Hicks will work to drive growth in market share for the company in both the consumer and small business market segments. She will report directly to the companya™s CEO Gary Guseinov.

Ms. Hicks comes to CyberDefender with more than 12 years of direct industry experience at Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ: SYMC), where she served in a variety roles related to product management, development and strategic planning. During her tenure at Symantec, Hicks redefined the way consumer utility and security software were developed and sold, from stand-alone point solutions to fully integrated suites, growing the companya™s market share to 90% and increasing revenue to more than $1 billion. In addition, she led or contributed to the development of a number of Symantec flagship products, including Norton AntiVirus, Norton SystemWorks, Norton Internet Security and N360.

Other roles held by Ms. Hicks while at Symantec included vice president of business process improvement and vice president of strategic opportunities, where she led Symanteca™s security strategy and solutions development in the wireless, mobile device and service provider space.

Before joining Symantec, Hicks served as marketing manager at Philips Media, where she helped develop and publish PC games. Prior to that, Hicks served as a marketing manager at Asymetrix Corp. and a product manager at Microsoft Corporation.

Hicks completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley and holds a mastera™s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington.
