Chicago Cubs Legend Ryne Sandberg to Provide Batting Pointers to Chicago Sports Fest Attendees at RCN Sponsored Batting Section

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - December 23, 2009) - [ RCN Corporation's ] (NASDAQ: [ RCNI ]) Chicago market will be sponsoring Mayor Daley's Chicago Sports Festival again this year, featuring an appearance by baseball Hall of Famer and RCN spokesperson Ryne Sandberg on December 28. The baseball great will be providing batting and pitching tips to festival goers and signing autographs from 11am-1pm.

The 12th Annual Sports Fest, presented by The Mayor's Office of Special Events and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, is free and is known for bringing together the people of Chicago for an action-packed festival filled with fun for children and adults alike. This year's Sports Fest will feature interactive "zones," including boxing, volleyball and football. Chicago Public Schools, an organization RCN also currently sponsors, will host an all-ages chess tournament with on-site instructors to help beginners. Other tournaments include floor hockey and table tennis.

Last week, Mr. Sandberg appeared at a RCN customer appreciation event, where prizes were being raffled and non-perishable food items were collected for the local food charity, the Lakeview Pantry. Mr. McKay added, "Ryne received some really good questions from the people who attended and I think everyone appreciated the open dialogue about his experiences and baseball history."
