SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire - December 7, 2009) - Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: [ AVCT ]), a global leader in IT Operations Management, today announced that its LANDesk® Management Suite has been positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in Gartner, Inc.'s "Magic Quadrant for PC Life Cycle Configuration Management" report.(1)

"Being included as a leader for the fourth year in this well-known Gartner Magic Quadrant is an honor and a testimonial to the strength of our LANDesk management products," said Steve Daly, executive vice president and general manager of LANDesk. LANDesk products have always focused on ease of use with a ROI of less than 12 months."

The LANDesk® management products ranked as one of only four vendors in the Leaders Quadrant. In addition, the LANDesk product line offers an array of award winning integrated endpoint management, asset management, IT service management, and IT process automation solutions.

To gain inclusion in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for the PC Life Cycle Configuration Management, Avocent had to complete a survey that contained questions about product specifics and business performance; extensive product demonstrations covering common desktop management use cases; and generate client interest and inquiries sufficient enough to be noticed by Gartner analysts. Analysts also receive feedback from enterprise clients detailing their use and experience using the products.

"Avocent constantly strives to help our enterprise customers more effectively manage their complex desktop environments and the LANDesk comprehensive Life Cycle management suite has been designed with ease of use in mind, enabling effective PC life cycle configuration management from a single location-independent console," said Michael Borman, president and CEO of Avocent. "Our continued placement in the Gartner Magic Quadrant speaks to our commitment to make the lives of our customers better by simplifying IT complexity."
