FREMONT, CA and RICHARDSON, TX--(Marketwire - October 21, 2009) - Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (NASDAQ: [ NWK ]), a leader in network and VOIP solutions, and Tango Networks, the leader in seamless enterprise fixed-mobile convergence for unified communications, today announced a strategic sales and product-solution partnership.

The partnership has two major components. Under the first component, NET will offer Tango's "Abrazo e" fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) solutions to its enterprise and government customers, channel partners and carriers, globally, as a reseller. The second component enables NET to integrate the Tango Abrazo eFMC solution into future NET products to provide a single-box solution supporting mobility for unified communications and voice systems. The fully integrated solution will offer customers a cost effective, easy to manage, solution that integrates mobile phones with enterprise unified communications networks such as Microsoft's Office Communications Server, IBM's Sametime Unified Telephony and IP-PBX or TDM-PBX based voice networks.

The Tango Abrazo solution utilizes a unique federated hybrid architecture with components in both the enterprise and mobile networks, which facilitates the secure, transparent extension of the enterprise network to the mobile. The Abrazo integrates to existing mobile network architectures based on current ANS-41 and GSM standards as well as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Both single mode cellular and dual mode cellular/VoWiFi operation are supported allowing any mobile phone to be supported.

NET's VX Series voice switches provide "any-to-any" voice integration and advanced capabilities for high-performance, secure voice communications. VX Series voice switches offer outstanding interoperability for enterprise unified communications and enterprise voice systems.

The combination of NET voice switches and Tango fixed-mobile convergence solutions will help organizations improve employee productivity by extending unified communications platforms, PBX's, and enterprise voice systems to mobile devices. The combined solution allows corporations to enhance mobility policies by giving IT increased control and management of its mobile assets while leveraging existing investments in enterprise voice systems.

"We are very pleased to have NET added to our partner ecosystem," said Al Leo, vice president of sales and business development for Tango Networks. "The addition of the Tango Abrazo eFMC solution to NET's broad family of VoIP solutions allows them to add mobility and to extend the PBX functionality to their VoIP and unified communications solutions for maximizing customer value."

"This partnership provides another key element to NET's emerging market strategy, providing the company with an enterprise mobility solution that is complimentary to the unified communications market. Tango's award winning Abrazo fixed-mobile convergence platform integrates mobile phones into the corporate enterprise to deliver a true mobility extension for unified communications and enterprise voice systems," stated Talbot Harty, Chief Development Officer, NET.
