DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - July 8, 2009) - Alticast, a leading provider of DVB-MHP, tru2way and Blu-ray Disc solutions, announced today that David Housman has been named CEO for Alticast Americas. Mr. Housman, who brings 25 years of technology and business development experience to Alticast, will spearhead the company's business efforts in North and South America, specifically to expand the company's footprint with operator clients in the US tru2way market.

Jeff Bonin, VP Business Development and Marketing of Alticast Americas, will continue to lead the company's business development and marketing efforts. "David brings extensive expertise to Alticast, having worked in technical and corporate leadership roles at Charter Communications (PINKSHEETS: [ CHTRQ ]) for more than 10 years. His experience at Charter and participation on numerous CableLabs committees brings a view of the US cable market that Alticast deems essential to continued growth," said Bonin.

The company, which has seen phenomenal growth over the past three years, has been providing equipment for use in live, interactive television productions since 2003 and which are now used by more than 4 million consumers daily. Alticast has developed dozens of interactive applications, including program guides, VOD, t-banking, t-shopping, games, widgets and government/public service applications. All Alticast solutions fully support industry standards.

"Alticast understands that open, standard-based approaches like tru2way are the key driver for creating compelling iTV applications that drive consumer adoption and better experiences, which in turn create revenue for everyone in the value chain -- from cable operators, to device makers, to application developers, to content producers," said Housman. "Looking ahead, tru2way technology is set to become for the cable and consumer electronics industries the best story of 2009 and beyond -- and it will only get better as more households begin converting to tru2way enabled TVs and set-top boxes," continued Housman.

Alticast partners with a Who's Who of industry heavyweights including Intel, Broadcom, TiVo, Samsung, Time-Warner Cable, LG, and Humax, who rely on the company's products as a core technology in their STBs, Blu-ray Disc players, and hybrid video devices.
