DALLAS--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--RF Monolithics, Inc. (NASDAQ: RFMI)(RFM), a leader in machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless communications, announced today that for the third consecutive year the company was named to the top 100 in M2M by M2M magazine.

The "2009 M2M 100" is a list of the most important and influential M2M technology providers as determined by the editors of M2Mmagazine and its editorial advisory board. Published annually, the M2M 100 is designed to provide a snapshot of the market as it exists today and the companies with the greatest impact on its direction.

Dedicated to delivering M2M through a broad range of wireless communications technology, the "2009 M2M 100" recognizes RFM as one of the most important and influential machine-to-machine technology providers in the world.

RFM CEO David M. Kirk said, "RFM continues to invest in serving the global M2M market, as evidenced in part by our October 2008 introduction of new wireless communications products that enable machine-to-machine connectivity in the globally accepted 2.4 GHz Industrial Scientific and Medical band."

In October 2008 RFM added a new 2.4 GHz RFIC transceiver – the TRC104, to its chip-level radio products. RFM also currently offers a broad range of RFIC and SAW-based short-range radios operating at various frequencies between 300 MHz to 2.4 GHz.

Also, RFM introduced an entirely new line of industrial-grade wireless sensor networking products to its broad line of OEM RF modules, in October 2008. Based on Dust Networks' SmartMesh technology, the first of the new products introduced include the XMD2140 and its companion gateway the XG2400. This new line is in addition to the extensive family of wireless sensor networking solutions that include ZigBee, 802.15.4, proprietary mesh and frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS), Bluetooth, and 802.11 b/g modules.

As determined by the editors of M2M magazine, over 300 companies were considered for their achievements including strength and number of customer references; strength of product/service portfolio; strength of business model; establishment and active involvement in the M2M market; and growth potential.
