  • The Biden-Harris administration has removed three Indian organizations, BARC, IRE, and IGCAR, from the US Commerce Department's Entity List to support

The United States has removed India's Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the Indian Rare Earths Limited (IRE), and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) from its Entity List, a move aimed at fostering closer cooperation between the two nations. This decision, announced by the US Department of Commerce, reverses a 1998 sanction imposed after India conducted nuclear tests. The delisting is part of a broader initiative to enhance collaboration in civil nuclear technology, reflecting the strengthening of the US-India strategic partnership. The removal from the Entity List will facilitate easier trade and technology transfer, allowing these Indian institutions to engage more freely with American companies and researchers. This action underscores the commitment of both countries to deepen their technological and scientific ties, particularly in the realm of peaceful nuclear energy.
