A new documentary reveals the incredible results of a project to create 3D underwater scans of the doomed ocean liner RMS Titanic, which sank 113 years ago.

A groundbreaking 3D scan of the Titanic, conducted by deep-sea researchers and revealed by National Geographic, offers an unprecedented view of the ship's wreckage on the ocean floor. Utilizing remotely operated submersibles, the team captured over 700,000 images to create a detailed digital model, revealing the ship's final resting state with such clarity that even the serial number on the propeller is visible. This project not only enhances our understanding of the Titanic's tragic sinking in 1912 but also serves as a crucial tool for future archaeological and historical research, allowing scientists to study the wreck without further disturbing the site.
