India is gearing up for a significant space collaboration with NASA, planning to launch the NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite in 2025, as announced by Union Minister Jitendra Singh. This satellite, described as the most expensive Earth observation spacecraft, will be jointly developed by NASA and ISRO, with a total cost of approximately $1.5 billion. NISAR aims to map the entire globe in 12 days, providing data to understand changes in Earth's ecosystems, ice mass, vegetation biomass, sea level rise, and natural hazards like earthquakes and tsunamis. The project underscores the deepening space partnership between India and the United States, following other collaborative efforts like the Artemis Accords and the launch of the GSAT-24 satellite.
