Researchers from IIT Guwahati and Bose Institute Kolkata have developed an innovative injectable hydrogel for localized cancer treatment. This biocompatible hydrogel delivers anti-cancer drugs directly to tumours,

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have developed a novel drug delivery system aimed at improving cancer treatment by reducing side effects. This system involves a hydrogel loaded with a precision drug, which targets cancer cells more effectively while minimizing damage to healthy cells. The hydrogel, made from biocompatible materials, releases the drug in a controlled manner, ensuring that it remains active longer in the body, thus enhancing its therapeutic effect. This innovation could potentially decrease the frequency of chemotherapy sessions and lower the toxicity associated with conventional cancer treatments. The development was published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics, highlighting its significance in advancing cancer therapy.
