("NET") (NASDAQ: [ NWK ]), a leading provider of enterprise-class networking solutions optimized for secure real-time communications in unified communications (UC), SIP Trunking and enterprise mobility, announced today the general availability of release 2.1 of its UX Series platform, which currently includes the UX1000 and UX2000 products. Among the new features is support for additional hardware interfaces provided on the UX1000 product. In December of last year, the company's UX1000 launched with support for the analog Foreign Exchange Subscriber (FXS) interface. With release 2.1, NET has added support for two new interfaces: the ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) and the Foreign Exchange Office (FXO) interface. With these additions, NET has addressed the needs of small enterprise branch offices on a global basis looking to deploy enhanced UC solutions.

A major percentage of the enterprise workforce is typically stationed away from the headquarters at a small branch or a home office. These offices typically have low bandwidth connections to the internet or low call-capacity connections to the public switched telephone network through their public telephone service provider. The most common connections for such branch offices are two-channel BRIs (for a digital line to a small enterprise branch office) or single-channel FXOs (for an analog line to a home office or a very small branch office).

Apart from the introduction of hardware interfaces, the highlights of release 2.1 of the UX Series platform also include various features and enhancements like music-on-hold, Lync E911 PSAP callback support, and SIP phone survivability.
