Cavium's PureVu™ to Enable Best-in-Class Wireless Display Consumer Experience for HTC's New Smartphones and Tablets
HTC's New Medialink HD Wireless Display Adapter to Use Cavium's PureVu™ Media SoC for Superior Content Sharing From HTC's Mobile Platforms
BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - Feb 27, 2012) - Cavium, Inc. (
The new PureVu-based Medialink HD adapter, when combined with HTC's media sharing application on their smartphones and tablets, enables consumers with superior content sharing and viewing experience. Whether stored locally or streamed from the cloud, content can be projected from the small screen of the mobile device to the larger screen of a high definition TV. With support for both screen projection and DLNA-based streaming capability, the Medialink HD is designed to turn HTC's mobile devices into the center of consumer entertainment and media sharing at home.
HTC's Medialink HD leverages the flexibility and performance of Cavium's CNW6611L media processor to offer superior video quality and robust content delivery over standard WiFi. CNW6611L's architecture offers the flexibility of a 1080p multi-format media subsystem, along with the raw horsepower of hardware accelerated security and graphics processing, to support various media streaming and wireless display capabilities. In addition, HTC's Medialink HD adapter leverages Cavium and Montavista's comprehensive firmware and software stacks, including WiVu wireless display receivers, DLNA digital media renderer (DMR) modules, content protection libraries, media quality of service (QoS) over WiFi, and the graphical user interface library.
"We are very pleased to have been selected by HTC for their new Medialink HD wireless display adapter," said Kourosh Amiri, Sr. Director of Marketing at Cavium's Digital Home and Office division. "Cavium has established itself as a leader in WiFi-based wireless display and home media distribution solutions. HTC's new feature-rich PureVu-based adapter developed in close collaboration with Cavium is a significant milestone in the transition of smartphones and tablets into the center of entertainment and content sharing everywhere."
