FAIRFAX, Va.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--ManTech International Corporation (NASDAQ:MANT) officially joined the United States Armya™s Partnership for Youth Service (PaYS) and held a signing ceremony today at company headquarters. The PaYS agreement was signed by ManTech Chairman and CEO George J. Pedersen and Major Brian Davis, Executive Officer of the Baltimore Recruiting Battalion.
"Our soldiers also develop important qualities that we need in the workplace, including responsibility, dedication to mission, perseverance, integrity, punctuality, teamwork, and of course, leadership. We can teach skills on the job or in the classroom, but character is harder to come by, and thata™s what the Army helps build."
The PaYS program matches young Army recruits with a company that offers participating recruits a job once their enlistment ends. Recruits choose a specific job skill with ManTech, and the Army enters into agreements with them reflecting the military skills they can expect to acquire, the ManTech job, and term of service at the time of enlistment. After completing their active duty service, soldiers who are matched to ManTech begin the employment process with them.
aThrough the PaYS program, we can take one more step toward helping our veterans find their place in the world after Army service,a Mr. Pedersen remarked at todaya™s signing ceremony. aThis Partnership for Youth Success gives new recruits the assurance they will not just have a job waiting for them, but a promising career with a company that values their service to our country. The Army has already started them off on the right course. When they are ready, wea™ll be there to show them a career path.a
ManTech has been recognized consistently by veteransa™ publications such as GI Jobs and CivilianJobs.com for its hiring of veterans. Earlier this year, GI Jobs ranked ManTech second on its list of top 100 companies for veterans.
ManTech also has provided major support to the University of Maryland University Collegea™s (UMUC) cyber studies program as part of a partnership to develop skills needed in government and industry.
aOne of the truly great attributes of our armed forces is that they give young people a lot of responsibility, show them the path to success, make them accountable to their fellow soldiers, and as a result, help them believe in themselves,a Mr. Pedersen said. aOur soldiers also develop important qualities that we need in the workplace, including responsibility, dedication to mission, perseverance, integrity, punctuality, teamwork, and of course, leadership. We can teach skills on the job or in the classroom, but character is harder to come by, and thata™s what the Army helps build.a
