United LED Selects Veecoa?s MOCVD Tools to Ramp LED Manufacturing

PLAINVIEW, N.Y.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Veeco Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: VECO) announced today that United LED Shan Dong Corp., (ULED) a China-based joint venture between United Microelectronics Corp (UMC) and Epistar, has placed a multi-tool order for Veecoa™s [ TurboDisc® K465ia" Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) Systems ]. The systems will be installed at ULEDa™s facility in Jining City, China for its high brightness light emitting diode (HB LED) manufacturing ramp.
