SAN JOSE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ:ELON) and Serious Materials today announced that they are collaborating to deliver the Echelon Building Energy Management solution, a new energy-saving offering for commercial, government and education facilities. The intelligent energy solution leverages Serious Materialsa™ software-as-a-service (SaaS) energy efficiency platform, SeriousEnergy Manager. Easy to deploy and manage, early adopters of the solution are saving 20 percent or more on their building energy bills. The Building Energy Management solution will be available through Echelona™s Solution Partner channel at the end of the Q1, 2011.
"Simple to install, simple to manage, simple to leverage, and simple to reap the benefits. Partnering with Serious Materials to integrate our Energy Control Networking technology and their energy efficiency platform delivers a powerful energy-saving solution that everyone understands a" from students to veteran facility managers to the CEO."
By combining Echelon Energy Control Networking technology and the cloud-based platform from Serious Materials, commercial customers gain granular, real-time insight into energy usage within their facilities. The Building Energy Management solution includes Echelon Control Networking components combined with sub-meters that install quickly and easily to minimize the cost of the solution. Sub-meters are electricity meters that measure the energy use for individual circuits, systems, or equipment within a building, such as air-conditioning compressors or lighting circuits. Data and analytics from the solution allow facility managers, using the SeriousEnergy Manager, to optimize and eliminate wasted energy from malfunctioning or always-on equipment. Through persistent commissioning, the solution provides more advanced analytics that enable facility managers to create sophisticated energy savings strategies for a building, campus, or across their enterprise.
aThe key for most schools and smaller commercial buildings, like quick service restaurants, is simplicity,a said Anders Axelsson, Echelona™s senior vice-president, commercial markets. aSimple to install, simple to manage, simple to leverage, and simple to reap the benefits.
