MITEC ANNOUNCES COVERAGE SOLUTION CONTRACT FROM MAJOR TELECOM PROVIDER

MONTREAL, Dec. 16 /CNW Telbec/ - Mitec Telecom Inc. ("Mitec") (TSX: MTM), a leading designer and manufacturer of mobile wireless, fixed wireless, broadcast and satellite components, announced today it has received what is expected to be the first in a series of new orders for its Interference Mitigation Filters, which are part of its Coverage Solution product line. The filters will be used for a network upgrade in Africa. The customer is one of the world's leading telecom providers, who has previously qualified these products for use in its network.

Mitec's Interference Mitigation Filters provide operators of existing networks the ability to co-locate services of different wireless standards on the same utility tower. As future network expansion is often difficult to predict, frequency coordination for expansion is often a problem for operators. For telecommunications companies looking to increase subscriber capacity at co-located service sights, the increased capacity requires additional bandwidth usage in order to handle the traffic, and creates frequency interference. Mitec's Interference Mitigation Filters can be deployed to minimize frequency interference between services.

As part of Mitec's Coverage Solutions product line in the mobile wireless market, Interference Mitigation Filters address "after-market" expansion to existing telecommunications networks.
