Voice Mobility International, Inc.: Nortel Government Solutions Becomes Voice Mobility's Master Distributor in Federal Markets
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA--(Marketwire - June 10, 2009) - Voice Mobility International, Inc. (TSX:VMY)(OTCBB:VMII)(FRANKFURT:VMY), a Nevada-based developer and provider of carrier and enterprise unified communication solutions, and Nortel Government Solutions Inc. (NGS) today announced an agreement to act as Voice Mobility's master distributor for the U.S. Federal Government market. NGS, a U.S. company wholly owned by Nortel and based in Fairfax, Virginia, provides products and services to all Federal agencies.
Valued at over $1 million, NGS received its first Voice Mobility order from one of its largest DC area resellers. This Voice Mobility Vmerge solution provides a unified communications platform with 800 ports and service to more than 20,000 users. It replaces the customer's existing Octel voice-messaging platform and a business essential group alert system for emergency and event notifications with a software-based solution.
"We share a common vision in adherence to industry standards and the interoperability that enables. This provides the flexibility NGS requires to deliver a unique set of solutions, customized and optimized to use the best-in-class products available," said Chuck Saffell, CEO, Nortel Government Solutions. "Our partners work with their Federal customers to design and configure the optimal functional and architectural solution based on customer requirements. This deployment model reduces procurement, training and ongoing support costs that are typically associated with moving to a next generation solution. Voice Mobility's product line complements our mission to move NGS and our partners away from a hardware support model to a true software solutions model," said Saffell.
"The U.S. Government is leading the way in the adoption of unified communications (UC) and CEBP technologies," said Dave Ballins, Director of Channels in North America for Voice Mobility. "NGS is the undisputed leader in supporting U.S. Government agencies in the procurement of these technologies. It is exciting to see the largest organizations in the U.S. Government understanding and utilizing the benefits of Voice Mobility solutions. As our Master Distributor for the Civilian Agencies and the Defense Department, NGS will provide Voice Mobility solutions to and through all their channel partners."
Voice Mobility solutions target three key markets. The UCN 250 is a highly scalable, Linux- based solution developed specifically to support customers migrating from legacy OCTel servers. The Vmerge is a Windows-based solution that is targeted at customers with heavy UC requirements, specialized applications and/or competitive feature emulations. Concierge is a stand-alone application server that integrates legacy applications with emerging solutions to deliver functionality such as presence, secure IM and computer telephony interfaces (CTI). Concierge integrates with the UCN 250 and Vmerge and industry messaging and switch platforms. Voice Mobility's product line is software-only, SIP-based solutions that operate on off the shelf hardware. In addition, all Voice Mobility solutions may be deployed in stand-alone, N+1, redundant, geo-redundant configurations with or without high availability options.
