Following a brief review of the different PMD types selected by the IEEE 802.3ba Task Force for 100GbE applications, some key technologies and likely implementation choices will be presented with a focus on the Single Mode Fiber applications and optical module design.

Mr. Chang is responsible for promoting Opnext 40/100G technologies and products in markets across Asia. He joined Opnext through the acquisition of StrataLight Communications, a leading subsystem vendor in 40G deployment in tier-1 carriers around the world.
 
Mr. Chang has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to his current position, Mr. Chang was with ZTE USA, Inc. He helped the development of several advanced SDH and WDM products targeted for international markets. He was also a pioneer in IP transport on Multi-Service Transport Platform (MSTP) development in Fujitsu Network Communications, USA, where he led a team of system engineers responsible for architecture and system design of a very successful MSTP product lines.
