PALO ALTO, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ GigOptix, Inc. ] (OTCBB:GGOX) a leading provider of electronic engines for the optically connected digital world announces that their [ GX6155 ], ceramic packaged Mach-Zehnder modulator driver integrated circuit (IC) is now shipping in full production. The GX6155 has successfully passed 1000 hours of High Temperature Operating Life (HTOL) Test and has begun volume shipments to global customers.

The GX6155 was designed specifically to improve manufacturability with the use of ceramic packaging. The ceramic package is more robust than the current generation of plastic packages and is both RoHS compliant and backward compatible with non-RoHS (tin-lead, SnPb soldering). The GX6155 footprint is equal to the GigOptix [ iT6155 ] and other modulator drivers on the market, facilitating a fast design cycle.

Applications of the GX6155 include 10Gb/s 300-pin transponders for long haul and metro optical communication networks.

"By being more robust, the GX6155 reduces the rework often required by transponder makers resulting in lower manufacturing costs. Given that design time can be quite rapid because of the footprint compatibility, these cost savings can be seen quickly as is needed in this challenging economic time," commented Julie Tipton, vice president of marketing for GigOptix Inc. "Early adoption customers are now ramping up their production and several more are in the final qualification stages."

GX6155 modulator driver ICs are in production and available in a ceramic package or with an evaluation board for testing system compatibility. Sample requests and production parts can be ordered by contacting our sales team at 1-888-XOX-GIGX or [ sales@gigoptix.com ].
