Science Week to showcase 300 local inventions

  • To boost innovation, the government recently launched the Deep Tech Centre, a state-owned facility focused on fast-tracking high-impact research and commercialisation

The Science Week event, scheduled to take place at Makerere University from November 6 to 10, will feature over 300 Ugandan innovations across various fields such as agriculture, health, and engineering. Organized by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the event aims to showcase local talent and foster partnerships between innovators, investors, and policymakers. Notable inventions to be displayed include a solar-powered irrigation system, a mobile app for diagnosing diseases, and a low-cost water purification system. The week-long event will also include workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions to support the growth and commercialization of these innovations.
