Colgan Student Named Regeneron Science Talent Search Finalist
- A student at Colgan High School is one of 40 finalists in the nation's most prestigious high school science and math competition.
A student from Colgan High School, named Anish Vallabhaneni, has been named a finalist in the prestigious Regeneron Science Talent Search for his project titled "A Novel Deep Learning Approach for the Prediction of Drug Efficacy in Breast Cancer Treatment." This competition, known as the nation's oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors, recognizes young scientists who are developing innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Vallabhaneni's project focuses on using artificial intelligence to enhance the effectiveness of breast cancer treatments by predicting how well drugs will work on individual patients, potentially revolutionizing personalized medicine. He is among the top 40 finalists out of over 1,900 entrants, each receiving a $25,000 award, with the opportunity to compete for additional prizes up to $250,000. The finalists will travel to Washington, D.C., for a week-long event where they will undergo interviews, present their research, and participate in various educational and celebratory activities.
