Researchers fom South Korea's Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology have developed an extremely efficient energy harvesting device. This innovative new device turns body movements into electrical energy!

A new device developed by researchers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in South Korea has the potential to revolutionize energy harvesting from human motion. This innovative technology, known as a "triboelectric nanogenerator" (TENG), converts mechanical energy from body movements into electrical energy with an efficiency 280 times greater than previous models. The device utilizes the triboelectric effect, where electricity is generated through the contact and separation of two different materials. This breakthrough could lead to practical applications in wearable electronics, powering small devices like fitness trackers or smartwatches directly from the user's movements, reducing the need for batteries and promoting sustainability in personal electronics. The research, published in the journal *Nano Energy*, highlights the potential for this technology to be integrated into clothing or accessories, offering a new way to harness energy from everyday activities.
