UC leads the nation for the most highly influential scientists and researchers
- UC's 289 faculty and scientists included on Clarivate's 2024 list of Highly Cited Researchers make the university the most highly cited institution in North America.
The University of California (UC) has once again demonstrated its prowess in research, with 139 of its researchers named in the 2024 Clarivate Analytics list of Highly Cited Researchers. This prestigious list identifies the top 1% of researchers worldwide based on the number of highly cited papers they have produced over the past decade. UC's strong showing includes faculty from various campuses, with UC San Diego leading with 35 researchers, followed by UC San Francisco with 29, and UC Berkeley with 27. The list spans multiple disciplines, showcasing UC's broad research impact, from life sciences and physical sciences to social sciences and engineering. Notably, UC Santa Barbara, UC Los Angeles, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside also contributed significantly to this tally. This achievement underscores UC's commitment to fostering groundbreaking research and its role in advancing global scientific knowledge.
