Samsung appoints Vice Chairman Young Hyun Jun as CEO
- Samsung Electronics has announced the appointment of Vice Chairman Young Hyun Jun as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Jun will continue in his current role as Head of the Device Solutions (DS) Division and will also take charge of the Memory Business and the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology.
Samsung Electronics has appointed Vice Chairman Young Hyun Jun as its new CEO, effective immediately, following the death of former CEO and Chairman Lee Kun-hee in October 2020. Young Hyun Jun, who has been with Samsung since 2000, previously served as the head of Samsung's future business planning unit and has extensive experience in the company's semiconductor and battery businesses. His appointment comes at a time when Samsung is navigating through global economic challenges, supply chain issues, and intensifying competition in the technology sector. The company aims to leverage Jun's strategic vision to enhance its market position, particularly in semiconductors, where Samsung holds a significant share. Additionally, Samsung is focusing on innovation in AI, 5G, and other emerging technologies under Jun's leadership.
