The European Parliament has confirmed the appointments of Iliana Ivanova as the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth, and Thierry Breton as the Commissioner for Internal Market, following a series of hearings. Ivanova, previously a Bulgarian MEP, took over the culture portfolio from Mariya Gabriel, who resigned to become Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. Ivanova's responsibilities now include managing the Creative Europe program, which supports the cultural and creative sectors. Both commissioners received strong support from MEPs, with Ivanova's appointment seen as a positive step for the cultural sector, and Breton's reappointment reflecting confidence in his handling of digital and market issues.
