By Richard Elesho/Kogi The Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES) has been selected by the World Bank as one of five implementing states to host the Livestock Service Centre (LSC).
The World Bank has approved the establishment of a livestock centre in Kogi State, Nigeria, as part of its Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES). This initiative aims to enhance livestock productivity, improve resilience against climate change, and promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders. The centre will provide training, research, and extension services to improve livestock management practices. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State expressed his gratitude for the approval, highlighting the project's potential to boost the local economy, create jobs, and reduce conflicts over land resources. The project is part of a broader effort to transform Nigeria's livestock sector, making it more sustainable and economically viable.
