Latest Release of Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine Software Enables Customers to View and Analyze Data at the Speed of Business
Enhanced Visualization, Mobile Access and Certifications With Oracle Data Discovery and Integration Technologies Reduce Risk, While Optimizing Data Availability and Insights
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 2, 2012) - ORACLE OPENWORLD -- Oracle (
News Facts
- Oracle today announced the availability of enhanced analytics software optimized for [ Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine ], the industry's first high-speed engineered system featuring in-memory business intelligence (BI) software and hardware to deliver extreme performance for analytic and performance management applications.
- New capabilities in Oracle Exalytics enhance customers' ability to quickly access and leverage data assets in real-time, from information discovery to visual and mobile analytics, through to enterprise planning and reporting, providing them the intelligence they need to make better business decisions, faster.
- Oracle also announced a new release of [ Oracle Business Intelligence ] Release 11.1.1.6.2BP1 that includes expanded mobility and intuitive visualization capabilities, helping business users quickly identify and analyze trends and take immediate action anytime, anywhere.
- Optimized for Oracle Exalytics, the new release of Oracle BI Mobile enables customers to massively scale and deliver sub-second response times for thousands of mobile users across millions of rows of data. For more information, see today's [ release ].
- In addition, [ Oracle Endeca Information Discovery ] is now certified with Oracle Exalytics, allowing business users to easily explore diverse and unstructured information -- such as social media, internal documents or written customer feedback like product reviews -- to find answers to questions that cannot be easily answered by more traditional, quantitative business intelligence.
- Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database for Oracle Exalytics has also been certified to work with both [ Oracle GoldenGate ] Real-Time Replication technology, as well as [ Oracle Data Integrator ], allowing more flexibility for customers to report on events as they happen. With these certifications, Oracle Exalytics data can be updated either via replication or via incremental updates, making the refreshes quicker and more efficient.
- The new release also features additional optimizations for faster loading of Oracle TimesTen and enables Storage Area Network integration for expanding storage capacity requirements.
- Certification for [ Oracle Hyperion Planning ] enables it to co-exist with Oracle Essbase on Oracle Exalytics to enable tighter integration and better performance than on traditional hardware -- with significantly faster reads, faster writes, and much higher user concurrency. This allows customers to shorten planning and reporting cycles. In addition, Oracle Hyperion Planning running on Oracle Exalytics supports a higher volume of users, enabling organizations to scale the application to bring more managers into the planning process. It also enables the adoption of planning best practices such as dynamic planning, rolling forecasts and driver-based planning on more detailed models.
- By consolidating applications and servers on Oracle Exalytics, users can reduce administrators and overhead, resulting in less cost, complexity and a lower overall cost of ownership.
Supporting Quotes
- "Oracle Exalytics enables organizations to make decisions faster in the context of rapidly shifting business conditions while broadening user adoption of business intelligence though the introduction of interactive visualization capabilities that make every user an analyst," said Balaji Yelamanchili, senior vice president, Oracle Analytics and Performance Management Products. "The latest software enhancements and certifications further increase the extreme performance and value of Oracle Exalytics -- allowing users of all skill sets to gain the actionable intelligence they need to make better, more informed decisions."
- "One of the key benefits of Oracle Exalytics is the new visualizations. Combined with the speed we can look at data that, up until now, we've not had a chance to see," said David Hellig, Director Business Intelligence, Savvis Communications. "By leveraging the performance power of Oracle Exalytics, we can not only look at new, but also extremely larger data sets."
- "I sat down with our operations teams and asked them what would it take to replicate the performance of the Oracle architecture with a different one, and they came up with $1.3 million to $1.4 million. And they weren't even sure that we could get the same performance," said Darryl LaGace, Chief Information Officer for San Diego Unified School District. "Additionally, by bypassing the expense of engaging systems integrators to implement the solution, we estimated that we saved more than $1 million by going with Exalytics."
- "Part of our implementation plan for Exalytics is to roll out Mobile BI to our salespeople who want easy and fast access to all of their customers' usage and transactional data on their mobile devices," noted Ross Bensen, Head of BI Architecture, Thomson Reuters.
- "We are excited about the potential of Oracle Hyperion Planning running on the Oracle Exalytics In-Memory platform," said Charles Hausmann, Director of Peloton's Infrastructure and Installations Practice. "Early benchmark tests in our Peloton Performance Center confirm that Oracle Exalytics will be able to deliver on the promise of speed-of-thought performance for clients with more detailed planning and forecasting requirements, and the need to support 1000's of planners and contributors across their organizations."
