SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 3, 2012) - [ Riverbed Technology ] (NASDAQ: [ RVBD ]), the performance company, today announced [ CareCore National ], an evidence based healthcare solutions company, selected the Riverbed® application delivery controller (ADC) to support its move to a fully-virtualized IT environment. Riverbed virtual ADC has provided CareCore with an efficient application development process and high-performance accessibility of its Web offerings, resulting in improved customer service for the company's 60 million patients that depend on healthcare information.

CareCore provides patient healthcare information to its employees, including 1,200 call center agents and physicians through its daily medical reviews application, which is centralized in its private cloud environment. As these reviews are accessed, ensuring ease-of-use and access at anytime is vital. To meet these demands, CareCore takes a unique approach to developing and delivering applications, which requires a flexible and fast IT environment. CareCore moved to a fully-virtualized IT environment to gain the flexibility needed for developing and supporting its more than 500 workload applications. However, its legacy appliance-based ADCs and load balancers did not have the throughput, capacity or flexibility to distribute the computing power needed for the production, integration and testing of applications in a virtualized environment.

After considering several vendors to support and optimize applications in a virtualized environment, CareCore learned that many had limited offerings that did not provide the needed flexibility, which would result in a generic approach to CareCore's customer service.
