Micrel Creates 1-Square Millimeter Dual-Input, Push-Button-Reset IC With Extended Setup Delay Times for Generating Hard Resets
New IC Protects Against Accidental Resets While Satisfying Size and Power Demands for a Variety of Consumer Products
SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 26, 2012) - Micrel, Inc. (
"The MIC2782 was designed expressly for consumer product manufacturers seeking to virtually eliminate the possibility of accidental hard resets," stated Brian Hedayati, marketing vice president for the Analog business unit at Micrel. "The dual-input [ MIC2782 ] offers an elegant, flexible solution in less than 1 square millimeter while limiting the supply current to 2.2mA. This makes the device eminently suitable for space-constrained, power-sensitive applications such as Smart Phones and tablets."
The [ MIC2782 ] generates a reset pulse for a reset timeout period of 0.5s, 1s or 2s, after both push-button inputs have been held low for a selectable setup period of 6s, 8s, 10s, or 12s. The device also features a second output that immediately asserts if both push-button inputs have been asserted, and deactivates if one or both inputs are released. The [ MIC2782 ] provides 65kOhm pull-up resistors on the push-button inputs. Designers can tie both push-button inputs together if they desire a single push-button input. Outputs are open-drain and can sink 0.5mA of current from a 1.5V supply. The [ MIC2782 ] operates over the 1.5V to 5.5V supply voltage range, consuming just 2.2mA of supply current at 3.3V. It is available in a space saving, 6-bump, 0.4mm pitch, 0.8mm x 1.2mm x 0.525mm Wafer Level Chip Scale Package, and operates over the -40degC to +85degC temperature range.
