Cavium to Support Trillium LTE Base Station Software From Radisys on OCTEON® Fusion "Base Station-on-a-Chip" Platform

Expands Proven LTE Software Choices on OCTEON Fusion for Accelerated Customer Deployment of LTE Small Cell Radio Access Network

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - Feb 27, 2012) - GSMA Mobile World Congress -- [ Cavium, Inc. ] (NASDAQ: [ CAVM ]), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications, and the digital home, today announced support for the Trillium TotaleNodeB LTE software from Radisys (NASDAQ: [ RSYS ]), on the OCTEON® Fusion "Base Station-on-a-Chip" family, which will help take our joint customers to market faster.

The companies will work together to deliver a standalone Long Term Evolution (LTE) solution. Cavium's end-to-end live LTE demonstration using commercial LTE UE client and OCTEON Fusion SoC technology can be seen in Hall 2 on Cavium's booth #2B05 and Radisys' wireless infrastructure and small cell experts will be available to discuss Trillium in Hall 1, Booth #1F01 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 27 February to 1 March.

Radisys' 3GPP-compliant Trillium LTE TOTALeNodeB software provides TEMs with a complete, integrated LTE eNodeB that meets the unique requirements of network equipment providers. It includes the Trillium LTE eNodeB application, radio resource management (RRM), radio environment monitoring (REM), self-organizing network (SON), schedulers and all of the Trillium protocol layers stretch from all variations of small cells up to macro cells. When integrated with OCTEON Fusion SoC and the FemtoForum API (FAPI) compliant PHY layer of Cavium's FusionStack software, it provides joint customers of Cavium and Radisys a complete LTE eNodeB solution.

"Radisys has a successful track record providing mobile infrastructure technology and services to the world's leading telecommunication equipment manufacturers," said YJ Kim, General Manager, Infrastructure Products Group at Cavium, Inc. "The Trillium LTE TOTALeNodeB solution has wide industry adoption and we are happy to continue partnering with Radisys to enable Trillium support for our OCTEON Fusion family for our joint customers."

OCTEON Fusion is the industry's most powerful multi-core "Base Station-on-a-Chip" family integrating up to six MIPS64® cores with 8 LTE/3G Baseband Digital Signal Processing (DSP) cores enabling macro-class features for small cell base stations. The OCTEON Fusion family consists of two software-compatible product lines: CNF71XX and CNF72XX, delivering industry leading performance and low power to enable small cell base stations supporting from 32 to 300+ users on both LTE and 3G platforms.

"Cavium's OCTEON Fusion multi-core small cell base station SoC is a high-performance SoC and a strong enabler of the small cell base station adoption. We are delighted to support the OCTEON Fusion family with our Trillium LTE software . Our long standing collaboration with Cavium reflects our continued emphasis on alignment with technology leaders for 4G wireless network build out," said Todd Mersch, Product Line Management Director at Radisys.
