This traffic control system already won a 2009 National Association of Counties Achievement Award for saving LA County an estimated $7.0 million in costs over tradition copper or fiber optic installations.

"To enable LA County to reduce the number of leased telephone lines and, more importantly, to provide high-capacity communications over a non-contiguous geographic area spanning hundreds of square miles, we needed to be able to transmit all the traffic control system data and video images back to the LA County Traffic Management Center.
