MONTREAL, Sept. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Mitec Telecom Inc. ("Mitec") (TSX: MTM), a leading designer and manufacturer of mobile wireless, fixed wireless, broadcast and satellite components announced today it has received additional orders for its high power, multi-carrier tower mounted boosters ("TMB"). Mitec received an initial order for High Power TMB last month from the same customer at 850 MHz frequency. This new order is for additional TMB at that frequency as well as 1800 MHz.

High Power TMB, which boost both incoming and outgoing radio signals to and from mobile phones and smartphones, use technology engineered to compensate for combining and cable losses between base stations and antennae. This solution extends the coverage area of a cellular site significantly, without increasing the number of required cell sites. It is also used for new cellular site rollouts as a solution to minimize the number of required cellular towers, delivering equal quality and quantity coverage to the operator's specifications. In addition to the frequency bands described above, Mitec has developed TMB in the 900 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz frequency ranges.

"We are very encouraged with the traction we are receiving with this solution and have now entered into trials with most of our TMB product line in various regions around the globe. This solution has also been used successfully at the commercial level in rural Canada and has demonstrated its effectiveness well", said Dan Piergentili, Mitec's President and CEO. "Since both telecom providers and operators are facing the same challenges in order to resolve the substantial growth they are now experiencing to keep up with the substantial demand for broadband coverage, this order is another example of why Mitec anticipates volume production for TMB going forward", he said.
